Introductory cigars

Hey chaps,
Me and six friends are celebrating the completion of a big project and thought we'd have a 'whiskey and cigar' type deal to celebrate. None of us have ever really smoked cigars before and wouldn't know if we were smoking a corner store discount cigar or a ?90 cuban.

I was hoping for 6-10 cheap cigars that look and taste pretty good. If anyone has any recommendations, that'd be great.

Welcome newsmokey, hope your first cigar will be one of many to come!! If you want a cheap intro range, id say go for a La Invicta Corona you get them on cgarsltd website and there less than ?5 each ish thats a Non Cuban, or you can go for something more expensive like a cuban, intro range maybe a Romeo y Julieta Tubos Number 2.

That said if you want something straight away Asda sells Don Tomas and H Upmann Jnrs

Others will have different views, but thats what i would go for

We've all had the occasional cigarette at some point, though I can't say I'm too partial to them. Three have been on holiday together before and finished out dinner of with cheap turkish cigars which were pretty good. Any one of you guys would probably think it tastes like a sheep's asshole, but we were drunk and thoroughly bemused at looking like Bond villains

Was just wondering if you were all hardened nicotine addicts! As you aren't, I'd definitely tend towards the milder end of the spectrum.

You probably won't go far wrong investigating what is available in tubes near you. If you fancy Cuban, I'd suggest looking at the Romeo y Julieta and H. Upmann brands as these aren't so likely to blow your face off.

Like Dave, I'd say something by RyJ/Upmann would be a good shout.

The RyJ No3 is a reasonably priced cigar which is of a good quality. For something a bit more unusual, there's the RyJ Petit Prince (no longer produced, and slightly shorter than the No3).

A good offering from H.Upmann, which is comparable to the RyJ No3, would be the Corona Minor.

If you'd be willing to go an extra couple of quid (from ?8 to ?10), then El Rey del Mundo's Choix Supreme is a beautifully proportioned cigar (possibly more congratulatory in stature). It's also fairly light, but definitely still a delicious smoke. And it's from one of my favourite brands .

Thanks for all your help guys. In the end I went for RyJ No.3's, can't wait to try them. I got a couple extra, just in case, and I'm not sure I can hold off smoking one 'till the night out!
