    hey soulmanure,
    i am one of the fellows here who states openly that i think cohibas are expensive and over rated...........then i have to eat my words when i have a secretos, siglo II or robusto!!!! lol!!! the siglo VI is a fantastic cigar, i've only ever had 3 of them and they were heavenly..........

    as much as i think there's other great cigars coming outta cuba, mainly (for me) from brands like h upmann, hoyo de monterrey, partagas and bolivar, there's a very good reason why cohiba is so highly regarded!!!! however, i stated recently that i think a title fight should be arranged between cohiba and trinidad........

    back to the topic though, you definitely gotta give cohibas a go!!! they are fantastic cigars that very rarely leave you feeling disappointed or worse, cheated!!! some will suggest the robusto, some the siglo VI.........i'm gonna stick my neck out and recommend........
    * the corona especial (fidel castro's favourite vitola)
    * the siglo III
    * the maduro secretos
    * the siglo VI

    these have all been fantastic cigars, never had a bad one yet (even though i've only ever bought them, except for the secretos, as singles from my local habanos shop here in belfast)! i'd love to try a lancero, never see them sold singly here

    all the best,

    alex

      Cohiba's are expensive but you are buying something very, very special. To me Cohiba is the flagship brand for Habanos - nothing is left to chance. It is almost a National symbol. You take a superb product - turn it up a notch and you have Cohiba. I'm a fan!
      I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

        Now, a bottle of '02 Cristal, Cohiba robusto and a warm evening - that's a fine hour indeed

          Senor Robusto,
          I'm surprised you didn't list the robusto! You make an interesting point about the trinidad, which has a sort of similar position of being relatively expensive and getting very high marks from some, and others finding them not so great--though they are also on the list.

          But hey, could Fidel be wrong? And if he was wrong, could anyone ever get a word in edgewise to tell him so?

            Just seen a list of aged singles at Sautter and they have :

            Cohiba Corona Especiales Reserva 1998/9
            & Cohiba Siglo IV 1995 both for ?30 each so you can check out some aged sticks if you pop into see Johhny.

              Reserva ? AFAIK no corona especial reserva was produced in those years. In fact the only especial rserva I know of come out of the cohiba seleccion box produced in 2002/03

                I am a big Cohiba fan but they do not smoke well young. 2 years minimum ideally 5 or more. My picks are the Sig II, IV and VI.

                  I've just tried one of my well-kept 2006 Robustos and I would say I smoked a quarter before it became impossible to draw on due to having a 1 inch plug at the band. I will do an autopsy but I am less than impressed with a ?20+ cigar being unsmokeable.

                  I am less than impressed with the number of expensive cigars I buy that are not pleasurable due to their construction. Surely a plugged cigar should be a rarity?

                    Pardon my Californian, but that is absolutely uncool. I was graciously gifted a Cohiba Robusto by Sir George, so I'll let you know when I get a chance to sit down and enjoy this object of controversy.

                      Having dissected the cigar at least I am satisfied that it is a real Cohiba. I wonder how many more of my SLB are too tight to smoke.

                      Not a great advert for Cuban cigars at ?400 a box.

                      Yes, I'm pissed off.

                        Well,
                        I've just finished a secreto generously gifted to me by Sir George, and I can say by direct experience now that as far as I'm concerned, Cohibas have a fantastic flavor profile. Mine was a bit like a cuban espresso with cream--sweet, smooth, and full of a coffee/chocolate flavor. And for such a small stick, it lasted quite a long time. I'm converted. Next up a genio.
