  • Once punched?

I was about to enjoy a cohiba robusto yesterday and had punched it and was minutes away from lighting it up when I was rudely interupted by work and was then called away.

I put it back in my humi for later. Is there any reason why I cant leave it in there until I want it again. I dont fancy it today and want something else now.

Does it matter that I have punched it? should I smoke it within a certain time now?

What's punched, is punched Boss. I don't really think it matters at all anymore.
Just smoke it when you get round to it!

      No probs.

I have previously cut cigars and had them sitting back in the humi for a couple of months with no problems Boss.

I've punched stuff and left it a while. I think it's discouraged because of the risk of it unravelling once cut, though I suspect this is minimal if using a punch.

I often leave cut smokes (I don't punch) aside when the draw is off. I leave them be for months, sometimes the draw come back. No detrimental effects as far as I can see

I can't forsee any problems - especially if it's been punched rather than cut.

                Danger! Danger!

Most cigars are quite safe punched; however, the Cohiba Robusto is one of the rare exceptions. We here at NASA Headquarters and Combination Dehydrated Fruit Salad Vending have done extensive testing on this see-gar after Myron Fensworth, the chap that comes 'round with the sandwich truck at lunchtime, once keeled over DEAD after firing up a Cohiba Robusto he had cut only the day before.

A thorough investigation of Myron's home revealed the remainder of a box of authenticated Cohiba Robustos (the glass top being the definitive proof) in the boudoir, 'neath the cat's box where it was hidden from the venemous eyes of Myron's anti-cigar-smoking wife, Brunhilda.

Lab analysis revealed that this pertikilar Cohiba, when cut and left for a period of more than 3/4 of a furlong, will actually transmogrify into a veritable cosmic zeta ray collector. For reasons we have yet to determine, the deadly zeta rays (which, as everyone knows, emanate from our twin Earth on the opposite side of the sun from us so that we can never see it) are attracted to the open wound like maggots to a tophat. Ordinarily, the cut seegar is rapidly protected by the smoker's mouth and the zeta rays become discouraged, turn 'round to go back home and say things like "shucks," "darn," and "fuck yer nan up the arse."

When the wounded stogie is left unprotected, however, the zeta rays accumulate in the binder, drinking tea and telling stories about their ancestors's exploits. When they reach critical mass, they cause a condition called "Oh My Fucking Ghodz!" wherein the slightest bit of heat applied anywhere in the vicinity will cause all matter within a 3-mile radius to immediately turn to smegma blossom, with an attendant explosion, of course.

Thus, in the spirit of safety, hands across the water, and all that crap, I am generously offering to take your volatile and potentially life-threateningly hazardous Cohiba off your hands where we can safely isolate it in our NASA Sooper Sekrit Level 6 Biohazard Containment Facility and Combination Shoe Shine Stand. In fact, just to be completely safe, why don't you just send ALL your Cohibas to me and I will see that they are properly taken care of.

Least I can do for a mate...

Sound like the wisest precaution to me. Thank Heaven for Rokkit and the safety consciousness of our ever thoughtful Uncle Sam.

rokkitsci - thank you once again for a super and informative post. I shall take heed of your notice and be very carful with any Cohiba Robustos I buy in future.

As a rare exception, could you warn us of any other stogies that have the potential to change into cosmic zeta ray collectors... Or is that classified as TOP SECRET?

Boss, I wouldn't worry, after all the other end is exposed, as long as you keep it in a humi. That's my 2 cents anyway.

In regards to rok - I have some glass top Cohiba's that I'll send to you immediately!
