  • Wow I do feel stupid

I only found out today that when you smoke Culebras, you're meant to take each cigar apart and smoke it individually as opposed to lighting all three and trying to fit the whole package in your mouth (so to speak )

Thank you Cigar Aficionado Video Archive!

Must say this takes the attraction out of those Culebras

Oh I've never even seen one in real life never mind smoked one, I just always thought that's how you're meant to smoke them!

Moppy, I would suggest that the main question is, did you enjoy smoking all three together. I was reading the Culebras section of the Min Ron Nee book which puts the lie to some of the more romantic stories about these wonderful cigars.

They originated in the Philippines where they are traditionally rolled far tighter than the Cuban models. In this case I suggest it would be extremely difficult to 'unroll' them.

SO the question remains, what did it taste like to smoke all three together?

I think that it is common to separate the three but not essential. I have certainly heard of people smoking all three in one go. I think though that, as with another vice, indulging in a threesome is as much a rite of passage as any thing else.

im not quite sure it is even a little bit possible to smoke them all together? Aside from the fact you wouldnt be able to draw on it (it would be like trying to drink with 3 or 4 straws) - the ribbon or the string holding the three pieces together would burn once you got half an inch into it and it would fall apart surely?

              Don't feel bad senor moppy.

Real men smoke all three at once. Only the weaker hombre (e.g., senor brokenwing) untwist culebras before smokin' 'em.

....but I believe that's more of a function of being a cheap bastard rather than being a proper gentleman.

TJ you disappoint me, I thought you would definitely make some kind of comment on "trying to fit the whole package in your mouth"!

And nicwing I haven't actually smoked a culebra, but I just thought thats how youre meant to smoke them. I did wonder about how different burn speeds would affect the burns on the adjacent cigars though!

I'd like to see someone smoke all three whilst retaining composure and gentlemanly manners. It'd end up looking like a 'Fille de joie' sucking off a bizarre shaped dildo in all probabilities. lol.

I was under the impression that the culebra originated as the tobacco workers cigar ration for the day.Three peso cigars.

I might very well be wrong too

Must admit I would not have thought to unravel it and smoke it whole. I doubt I would have any problems with it fitting too!
