  • How much are you prepared to pay for a cigar?

I've touched on this on the site recently, and I'm intrigued.

The most I've paid for a single smoke is, if I remember this correctly, ?30 in JJ Fox for a Monte Sublime on the first Cigar Walk last March.

I might have paid more for my P1 in Teddington because the prices aren't made explicit there (). I toked and enjoyed it.

I consider paying ?30 a hefty outlay for a single cigar.

I am not the kind of cigar chap who is hunting out a rarity. I am not a completist collector. I spend a small amount of readies on cigars because - much as I love the habit - I try to keep my global budget in order. If I were rich, no doubt I'd splash out more, especially as I am practically tee-total and don't splash out on any other luxuries.

For me, there comes a time when coughing up big time becomes ridiculous, and part of that is because these things are ridiculously taxed.

So what do you folk think?
Are you prepared to buy your sublime cigar at any cost?

It's a lot of dough to lay out, but then again I shudder to think what my wife spends on a day of 'pampering', and isn't that what enjoying a good cigar is?

I think I spent ?55 on a cigar in a west London restaurant last summer- I can't say it was a waste of money even at that price!

very hard to justify - even harder to say no to.

Although The Lainsborough are selling a single Behike for ?1.5K and I draw the line some way short of that...

I bought a single Party SP2 when my Good Lady was present and
received The Frown of Death, so, obviously I know my limit.
Not that I'm under the thumb, y'understand!

The most expensive cigar I have paid for was a RyJ No.3 of 6 euro (about 5 quids)...

I've paid around ?40 for a single monte A in a coffin a few times but would never go near that figure that for a regular smoke.

I think the most I've paid was about 20 quid. Highly unlikely to pay more than that, even if I could afford it. I just don't think it's value for money beyond that point, considering how much I enjoy a 'standard' cigar like a RASS or a JL2.

The most i have paid was 20? for a custom made "Padrino" from Cuba. Now, since 5 months they are aging in a tupperware-box.
Don?t know when i will try the first one.

mine was the R & J 04 Hermosa at ?24 each. I liked it so much more that the monte sublime i smoked yesterday. I think ?20-30 for a single stick is more than enoughbut then I'm a tight arsed QS by trade.

Mine would be the 3 Cohiba Sublime Extras that I bought for ?45 each.....

The only time I've "invested" in cigars, a lot of dough but, considering they go for nearly double that (if you can find them), I reckon I got a bargain!

If I had to pay more then a buck and a half a box then its time for me to give it up. I am a simple guy with a simple life who has simple needs. I do however understand with all the taxes imposed on my fellow BOTL that U would probably have to pay a lot more, Chatting with a friend an Opus X belicoso in his country cost around $100.00 for 1 smoke! When is enough ,enough ! Big Brother who we elect into office is killing us.

Whilst out on the London HERFs I have let myself spand aroun ?30 for a cigar in the shops that allow you to smoke in them...

Small change IMHO as even tho I would not pay so much for a cigar the company and the day makes it all worth the price...

As a rule I use the online sites for all my purchases, i simply cannot ignore the cheaper prices. It makes buying them over here very difficult to justify.

Just before the Christmas herf i went to JJ Fox and bought a RASS, Genios, and Duke. That small selection cost me nearly ?80! The Genios was the most expensive at around ?27 (i think). This is the most i've paid for a single.

I guess it all comes down to the situation. If i had the chance to sample something special, and it was at a herf or something like that, then perhaps i'd pay a little more and just enjoy it. To smoke at home i probably wouldnt bother.
