Is it OK to be pedantic?

recently i had bought some cigars off the internet (a reputeable site) and when i recieved them 4 out of the 6 had very small splits in the foot. I mean, they were about 2mm up into the cigars but i still sent the cigars back.

i would like to know if anyone else would send cigars back if they have tiny, almost unnoticeable flaws or would you just keep them? is it just me being pedantic?

Cigars are like anything else. You pay good money for them and you are entitled to receive the best.

I guess there are two sides to this,on one, cigars are a natural product so variations are to be expected . However most BOTL know what to expect, and the other if we accepted lesser quality products the suppliers might start selling 2nd rate stogies and make a larger profit. It would be good if you posted a photo of said smokes to get a better answer. Best wishes for 2010.

if it were a small crack in the end I would be toastig anyway I don think I would bother, but anymore than that then yes they would have to go back.
I love opening my humi drawers to se all my neatly lined up stogie that await me, damaged sticks kind of spoil that joy

You did the right thing, we pay a premium for these so should expect the best.

I got a couple of dodgy JL2s a few months back that I bought in person while in Gibraltar and didnt notice until I got back to Scotland.

I tried contacting the H&F about getting them replaced but didnt get anywhere with them except a couple of annoying emails to send them pictures and then telling me to contact the shop where I got em from...bah

If I were smoking them right off I would probably keep them (as I have done in the past). If they were to be stored for a time I would be afraid of the 'damage' increasing from movement, humidity flux, handling, etc and would send them back. If they were to be gifted they would definitely go back!

Bottom line is if you are not satisfied for what you paid then by all means you were right to return them.
