  • Are humi bags any good?

    Evening all,
Off to Egypt for a week next Friday and wanted your advice. Having only recently got into this cigar malarky I presently have just 3 cigars in my new humidor and I don't want to take them with me. Besides they wouldn't last me. So I was thinking of buying some to take.
What is delivery time usually like as I would need them before next Friday.
Also what am I best using to store them there. I've seen some humi bags on cgars ltd -would these do the trick? My budget is quite tight so I can't afford a proper travel humidor at the moment.
Not sure what the humidity will be like there. I know Egypt is dry, but it's on the Red Sea so there may be some humidity. Would a humi bag cope with this?
    Cheers,
    Jono

    Hello,
hy not just buy some cigars at the airport?

I bought a humi pouch from simplyciagrs.co.uk a couple of months ago; It seems to be working very well, I can't imagine why it would not work in Egypt as well as it does in England. However I am no expert!

    Hope this helps

    Oliver

For travel, I usually use a Tupperware box. Add a piece of rumpled (?) paper to stop the cigars from moving around while you're on your way. Choose a box that is big enough to put a little piece of moist toilet paper (yeah that's right!) in one corner distant enough from the cigars to humidify if you stay longer.

        Does the job

I used one a few years ago and it did seem to do the job in the short term at least.

You might be cutting it a bit fine with a week to go. I suspect you'd be fine as long as they come 'straight here'. I think the suggestion to pick some up in the airport is a good one.

I've used both the humipouch and the Boveda packs. The humipouch worked satisfactorily, but I've since fallen in love with Boveda, for reasons that I don't feel the need to outline here. Humipouch is much easier to get quickly in the UK though.

What sticks are you after? Might be worthwhile posting in the Wanted section, outlining the urgency?

Thanks for all the advice guys.
Think I will take the airport route. Hadn't thought of that one. Anyone know if they sell Cubans at Manchester airport? Cigars that is, not people.

                  Cheers

Well, just got back from Egypt. Ended up buying a 3 pack of Monte No 2's and 3 pack of Cohiba Siglo ll tubos at Manchester airport. They seemed a bit dry - the hygrometer in their humidor cabinet was reading below 50 per cent.
But that was nothing to the walk-in humidor at Hurghada airport. Door wide open, nobody in sight, no hygrometers, loads of different cuban cigars, all mixed up, boxes opened, single cigars lying everywhere. Basically a complete mess. A bit like Egypt in general really.
