    Missed.

I had missed this thread entirely Dave. Not something I had ever considered, regarding insurance TBH.

If you don have your babies insured and something should happen ,shame on you.
About 5 years ago my insurance people were reappraising my home when my wife asked if my cigars were to be insured and the man asked to see them. Upon looking into my collection he told my wife that they too would now be covered. My wife let him take photos of the man cave and he replied"I'm glad you mentioned this cause if there is ever to be a claim now we can set a value on this.

Got my buildings and contents insurance through the AA and have the cigar collection stipulated separately as a collection, they did insist that I had locks on all doors and windows etc but all OK and clearly shown on my policy. If you think what it would cost you to replace your cigars at UK prices plus your humidors, cutters, lighters etc it will amaze you how much it would cost

              Blimey....
              this got me thinking!

I reckon my cigars plus humidors must come to about 10 grand! (at UK replacement prices)

better get on with specifying it all on my policy

                Mine aren't.
I'd hate to think what they thought of me if I asked to insure my wine, whiskey, cigars & various other spirits!!

Yeah this was why I asked! Having just moved house I worked out the cost of replacement of just my Cuban boxes and I'd be gutted if anything happened to my stash.

I know everyone's collections are different, but did people find it made much of a difference to the cost of the insurance?

Thanks for reviving this, i didnt get anywhere last time. Good to know that it is possible, I havent got a huge collection but even to replace those it would be a tidy sum.

Obviously puts the costs up a bit but it's worth it for the peace of mind it gives you

my cigars arent insured as such. My road bike is (the pedal version) and is listed seperatly on my policy.
What I intend to do if the old girl burns to the ground (will NEVER get flooded where I am. Too high up) is get my contents insurance check, and buy some clothes, a tv, radio, kitchen crap, and when I have enough in my house to live a normal life, I will then recoup my collection with the remaining money.

Failing that, I buy the latest and greatest home theater, and tv, and a cheap radio and tv. Sell expensive stuff on fleabay, and use that money to buy cigars.

One thing I am about to do is re-do my will. 2 of my cigar smoking buddies will be instruted to meet at my place, and have fun!
