I will also add it's often not a poker that's needed. It's pulling the stems that's made the most difference. And the alternative for me has been teeth, fingernails and tweezers. Which often snap the stem. This helps to pull it out in one piece or pieces.

I do wonder how the screws work out.

I've had a perfect draw that the thread broke on then bought this cheap one from eBay that is more robust and has a built in nubber for s third of the price

Exactly my policy, always nice to know it's there, hate wasting a single stick!

Ha, I have been reduced to 'forking' as well, less than ideal but when needs must.

That's certainly value for money & I am sure it'll do a decent job on most cases but it won't remove any tobacco or stems, occasionally that really is needed to get a decent draw going. Like others, I rarely get plugged cigars these days but best be prepared.

On holiday in the DR I forgot to take my cutter on a boat trip but an obliging bbq chef came to the rescue with a very sharp knife.

Nice! I had a leather pencil case for all my paraphernalia when I used to smoke a pipe but that's a bit more smart.

I'm wondering whether a tight draw is often caused by the stems being left in these days. Sure the premium manufacturers used to strip out the stems before rolling but they all seem to leave them in now.
That and very few roll entubar any more.
