Dry Boxing....?

I use 69% Bovedas in my desktops which both read at closer to 65%, due to not being airtight.

Scuba for I use 65% Bovedas for long term storage and this holds steady as it should.

I found a RASCC in my coat last week (in a case) which must have been in there for at least a month, maybe closer to 2. Smoked it and it was fantastic.

Not the first time I've enjoyed a dry boxed cigar, I'm just not in a position to plan ahead what I'm going to smoke and then dry box them.

My tupoadore hygro reads bang on the same as the boveda in it - 69. Maybe I'll leave a few out - the rh in my lounge is 55 or was when I checked the other day. I don't think I can tell really.

Useful when smoking skinnies, e.g. 28-32 vitola's. a couple of days will ease the draw, especially if you keep at 65%+.

I tend to take a few out of the humi and put them in a box. If I don?t smoke them after a week or so, I just put them back in the humidor and so on.
I first did this after a larger RG split on me. It was at the recommendation of one of our friends down under.
I know (from reading other forums) that some people also leave the cigar exposed to the air in the same room as they will smoke them. I?ve not tried that - will just stick to dry boxing.

So I keep my wineador at 65 with Boveda but my travel xikar boxes I toss in a 62 pack and that has 5-10 sticks at a time always in there.

I'm not sure about the flavours but I feel that I get less plugged cigars this way as the lower humidity tends to make them a little easier on the draw.

Obviously sometimes I just toss them in the day I'm going to smoke them so not 100% benefit but sometimes they are left in there for weeks and so I'm just happy there is a boveda in there.

Just seems odd that you'd humidify them then dehumidfy then.

For me they smoke much better when stored around 62, but there is rumour/speculation that cigars age better at slightly higher humidity. I keep the boxes in my scubadors for aging at 69, but the cigars in my wineador for smoking at 62.

Some say that long term aging it's better at a higher humidity like 65-69 to keep the oils in the cigars. I'm still new so havent noticed in the few years that I've been storing cigars but that's what I've read.
