I completely get that and by not care I meant the public not the police there, you would have thought the sight of the police station would put most off!
I was in the still enjoying the occasional cigar bracket. Interesting to read that smokers appear less at less risk and that nicotine patches being looked at as they may help

There is some evidence you are less likely to get infected but the evidence also shows that if you do get it the outlook is less good. So not quite the good news that it first appears.

Agreed but they're all cigarette smokers probably with already damaged lungs. We don't take the nicotine into our lungs (or shouldn't!). The theory as I read it was that nicotine helps suppress the part of the immune system that overreacts to the virus causing the pneumonia that kills.
It's a though one....when you know people who are working in the hospital and hear the stuff they go though...then you see idiots not listening to the advice and still going on like normal. You'd want to make the call especially if they keep on doing things they shouldn't.

Simply by drawing on a stick and tasting, are we not ingesting nicotine, through gums/inside of the mouth?
I know I have bad habit of pulling the last 10% of a draw into my lungs.

Yes, nicotine is absorbed by the body when we smoke cigars. But most of the damage caused by smoking is not caused by nicotine, on its own its not that harmful.

That's the whole point, you're not sucking it down into your lungs like cigarette addicts do. Cigarettes are also full of added chemicals. We're just risking oral cancer, your dentist should be your best friend!
It?s not nicotine as such that causes health problems for smokers, it?s all the tar and chemicals that get produced from combustion that gets drawn down into the lungs. It?s the nicotine in cigarettes that is the addictive substance that keeps you hooked on the evil weed - and quite possibly hooked on cigars. Nicotine occurs naturally, think of it as nature?s answer to insecticide - it is found in most types of fruit/vegetation at various levels of concentration from tomatoes/cucumbers/salad leaves, to tobacco/cigar leaves. From study it?s supposedly the higher nicotine levels in our bodies that interferes with the corvid-19 preventing it bonding with our own body cells. It doesn?t prevent you getting coronavirus but purportedly offers a level of protection in slowing the virus and it getting a hold on you.

Its something to do with nicotines relationship with the ACE2 receptor which this virus uses to enter cells. Lots of research going on and it gets very technical.
Makes sense if nicotine attaches to the ACE2 receptor this would reduce the availability of receptors for covid to attach to and then inject the cell with its RNA.
Fag smokers breath in the hot gasses when they inhale & that destroys the cilla in their airways. The cilla are fine hairs, mean to waft up particules you might inhale & help you cough them back up so without these smokers tend to get more resp' infections & it takes them longer to shake it off. If you never deliberately inhale cigars, this is one advantage you should have over them.
