Side effects of smoking

I really started smoking last summer - which, if you can recall all those eons ago, was rather splendid weather-wise. Especially in Cannes.

Come winter though and I'm not sitting outside in this shite.

But I do fancy a cigar. Ooh I do have a shed though - maybe I could smoke in there.

Yes I can! Actually rather pleasant - even with the rain outside. No WiFi or 4g though so damn - I can't use my phone. Maybe that's a good thing though - I spend too long on it anyway. I'll read Nick's book. Wouldn't have discovered that without cigars, and this forum. I never really read, the phone is too tempting. The book is great!

3 more trips to my man cave over the week with the book and coffee (I prefer it to booze with a stogie) and this dingy little box is a real oasis of tranquility and enjoyment for me - I have rediscovered my love of reading.

Not to mention forum friends who have bombed me, and I enjoy chatting with.

Just an FYI on the unexpected side effects.

Everyman needs a man cave, sometimes they are made of wood. Re-discovering reading is good too, I am currently enjoying Nick's book too (& will be returning it next Wed ;O)

I hear you, nothing pleasant about sitting in the cold and rain with a stick this time of year. I too have a shed but it was packed to the rafters. lLst weekend i cleared the lot out and cleaned it. I have bought a big inline extractor fan and an electric heater so really hoping to fit the fan and sit and enjoy a stick this weekend. For once i will be hoping for rain!

Wifi wont reach and im banning myself from my phone. Time for a good book and chill

Joining a sci fi book club made me read a lot more again and I do enjoy it while having a cigar. Though some books we had to work through would have better been left untouched... [emoji5]

Nice. Im working my way through a classic sci fi anthology myself at the moment. Its fascinating how people 80+ years ago perceived the future. Some of it is spot on, most wildly wrong. Either way entertaining. Anything you recommend?

For something completely different from any other sci fi, try The abolition of species, by dietmar dath. It's a strange one though.

For more straightforward sci fi, Children of time is near close to perfect and the beat space soap opera would be Hyperion by Dan Simmons. [emoji5]
