So I'm busy adding cigars to my wishlist on my online tobacconist website and something strikes me: even thigh I've never tried a monte edmundos or an hdm epi 2, the latter seems to appeal so much more and I think its because of the band - the cigars thrmselves look kinda similar otherwise in the stock images. Firstly the hdm is a double band which makes it look special (a bit cheeky, maybe?), and secondly even the single band looks so much more interesting than the basic brown monte ring. Maybe that's why so many NCs have extra bands in the feet, and huge ones everywhere? Also why I'm drawn to REs and LEs? I dunno - just thinking aloud.

I am not immune to a fancy label though, I like the new Monte band with the gold highlights & of course Cohiba bands have always held an affection in my heart, from the simple printed version & even the new fancy holigram version looks the business, especially seems to add something to the smaller sticks like the Exquisitos. There should be a two band max, 3 bands or single bands covering 2/3 of the cigar are way too much & makes me worry about the quality of the wrapper. If it's perfect, why hide it?Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

I think it goes both ways the more you know too, the nicer bands certainly stand out but you can?t help but recognise older and simpler bands that show it might be something special after some time. I see a simpler Cohiba band and am far more drawn to what it will now taste like!
