Christmas After Dinner Smokes

Its 1st of December so we can talk about this now, right?

I'm going to be supplying cigars for my father (new to cigars and smoking full stop) and my uncle (ex pipe smoker). Curious to find out what you guys would reccomend for an introduction? That isnt going to blow their heads with nicotine (after Christmas lunch, so shouldn't be too much of an issue) but won't underwhelm when it comes to taste/flavour. Being fairly new to cigars myself, I'm not too qualified to recommend anything.

My options are as follows:

HdM Epicure Especial
Fonseca No.1
Oliva Serie V Belicoso
My Father No.2
Arturo Fuente Short Story
JLP Cazadores
Joya de Nicaragua Antano
Camacho Ecuador

Basically anything I have that has enough age on, and that I've got enough of for us to all smoke the same. Being an ex smoker and current ecig user, I've no perception of nicotine levels (never felt anything from any cigar) so not really sure how any of the above would affect them.

The HdM were my original ideas, being from 2015. Would you say a new smoker would be appreciative of the flavours they offer?

Good question.

The Hoyo is a big cigar. Hopefully it's aged enough to have developed she sweetness. Could be a good choice. But might be too much for non cigar smokers?

The JLP can be a bit harsh tasting but not unpleasant! I have some and do enjoy them.

Not tried the others.

So I'd vote the HdM!

It would be between the HDM and the JLPs for me provided they?ve got a few years to them. Petit cazadores are my go to for introducing others to cigars that tend to get the best result as you need to go for a mild smoke for most

And yeah it's hard without knowing how they're going to react, dont want to give them anything too full on, but also don't want to leave them wondering what all the fuss is about with something too mild. Was hoping the HdM might be in between, although it is a relatively big cigar...

They're both into whisky, and with my uncle being an ex pipe smoker, I'm thinking I'll maybe push the envelope a bit in terms of body, more than I would for someone completely new to such fine things as tobacco and Islay whisky [emoji39]

I?d class the HDM as a mild smoke plenty of flavour still though, you just need to accept in advance there?s a good chance they won?t finish them

Yeah I'll maybe see how they feel about them on the day [emoji848] Tbh I could maybe do with some more JLP, not sure the ones I have are going to last until Christmas day with a few parties to attend with mates... But I'll figure something our lol

I do have some rass and HUHC but unfortunately they're all only about a year old so trying to save them for maybe next year... I may try them with a Short Story for something a bit smaller

The fonseca are IMO a quiet mild stick and perfectly suited as an after meal cigar.

Agree, such a good introduction but relatively short so not overwhelmed by the 90 mins normal smoke time. This or even the Epicure No2 is always solid as a gateway cigar

im sure you have thought of this,how much time have you got to smoke? what will the temprature be like?will they be willing to sit outside in the cold for over a hour?what will their partners say about you lot out side smoking? my advice is something small, a half corona, petit corona or the like

Given Xmas is full of spice, strong potpourri scents then the obvious choice is an Acid Atom.
