If your having them shipped inside the UK then you also pay 20% VAT on the full price, this also applies to some EU shipping. Seems to depend per item not sure why. Many lots arent available for UK shipping anyway, I expect most of it goes to Asia and USA.

Well, let?s clarify - read the conditions here in the first pages.

ABOUT 20-25% of lots are subject to VAT on the hammer price IF collected in the uk and or shipped to the EU INCLUDING the UK.
A great deal of the rest is NOT deliverable to the UK, but CAN be delivered elsewhere in the EU without VAT on the hammer price.

CONCLUSION: IF you are a UK resident and choose to have the cigars picked up within or sent to you in the UK, THEN you can only bid on relatively few lots and you?d have to pay VAT on the hammer price of what YOU CAN bid on.

After b-day we're all paupers and can't afford cigars.

Then there's ir35. Then some of us don't have work either.

Don't expect all temporary contract/off payroll work force to be given roles. The contract/temp market might disappear over the next few months. At least until there are repercussions.

I move around every 1 or 2 years consulting with different orgs. That are stopping taking on individuals. The big consultancies will reap big time. And I expect history will repeat itself.

I hope I've made enough hay. And enough contacts to get a 'proper' job!

Best of luck Banos, I?m so glad I got out of that market in the last big down turn. Or maybe it was the one before. Anyway it was the one that followed 9/11. After nearly a year of eating into my rainy day fund. I decided enjoy enough was enough and jumped ship. Never really regretted it but still miss the environment.

I do... but I promise that the explanation wont help.

At one point we found it easier if 2-3 of us get together to bid for bigger contracts and even took in subbys if needed. Best of luck
