Calling it a scene puts me right off.
Instagram is also a bit too much "Look at me" for my liking.
I prefer club where it's about sharing experience online and face to face enjoying friendship and not showing off who's got the biggest, rarest, most expensive etc.

this is insta in general ..it has to be taken as that. thinking of it i havent posted on there for ages and ages and i dont think i have every put a cigar pic on.
Im happiest sat in my garden by myself enjoying my smoke after a long day. I feel like i have earnt that time to relax and take things easy and enjoy the cigar and a nice drink. I have sparked up in public or at parties but i dont really want the attention it brings from non smokers. Said something similar before on the forum. I smoke for my own enjoyment and relaxation and not to try and impress or boast. im sure everyone on the forum is the same. Its not about being flashy or getting likes. Its just about the leaf, looking after my sticks, smelling them haha, looking at them and deciding which one to toast depending on my mood, time on hand or how much money a feel like burning
probably worth mentioning im 31 and only been smoking cigars for about 18months and i dont have a fortune to spend, but what i do spend i enjoy. And thats the point for me right now. I have about 250 sticks, mostly non cuban (just found i prefer them and the variety on offer)
i think we are a select few and really a different breed all together.
ps...just started following puros2004, nice page feller!!
there are no clubs and only on place in town where i know i can go and buy smokes but i dont because they are well over priced and well over humidified..this tells a tale in itself.

That was what got me thinking about this to start with. The fact there are no lounges near me, and I was wondering whether there ever would be. Although it doesn't seem to be a growing market that businesses are looking to get into. Plus the anti tobacco/smoking laws and taxes (still not sure how these lounges fit in with that)
Like puropunch I am (younger) 30 and yes I do have and use Instagram for photos of what i'm smoking, i'm not loaded and I smoke cigars for the enjoyment of picking one out, cutting it, lighting it and enjoying it, escaping for however long it is, sometimes with a drink sometimes without.
I do have some nice more pricey sticks stashed away but they are few and far between and for special occasions (Though i'm yet to find one to smoke a pricey stick!) I like lots of the normal regular production sticks, epi2's ERDM, Mag 46's, Monte no2's, Diplo 2's, Upmann 2's etc
Instagram influencers have cottoned onto cigars as a super premium and luxury item which going on UK pricing they are I think, Instagram has become another dick swinging advertising space for certain people, very far from it's original premise.. though I probably do still follow all those people and like their photos
I am lucky to live 5 mins walk from the LCDH in Teddington and I do like to pop in on their late opening evenings for a stick in the lounge when I can, but that's an expensive exercise sometimes.
As others have said there does seems to be a rise in more cigar shops and outdoor smoking area's popping up, I was in Edinburgh recently and they had a fantastic Cigar Bothy in their outside smoking area.
I think more younger people are getting into cigars but it will always be a small slice of people that do, its a hobby that's requires time to enjoy it and i get the feeling (especially in London) no one has 'time' anymore
I confess I find the instagram cigar cult a little much. Even the 'cigar novice' is rarely seen without a travel case of at least x4 RE/LE/ LCDH double banders as the background to his daily smoke. And as we all know, well kept and modestly aged regular production is often phenomenal!
While I am quietly pleased that there is a steady push of people enjoying cigars and sharing the experience, I do find that it is propagating a lifestyle perception about cigars... the need to pair them with one or more of; high end spirits, wines, watches, a perfect view and location stamp, doesnt really reflect how most of us enjoy a cigar.... its all too posed... of course the majority of us plan to enjoy them on high days and holidays where we will also be enjoyin other fine things, but we also take them at our leisure whereever and whenever our leisure allows us! Ggarage, shed, cabin, park, garden, greenhouse etc... Pricing of cigars can be prohibitive, but if people feel they have to compete with/ keep up with ' a lifestyle' too I think they are likely to (sadly) miss out.
I agree. All the guys have Peter James cigar cases and so on. I herfed with a couple of young guys the other day and both had those cases and all the other sutff. I still carry my Xicar travel case around....
