Greetings fellow brothers of the leaf!

I'm a relatively novice cigar enthusiast from Norther Ireland. I have been smoking your standard Tesco's bought machine rolled cigars (Henri Wintermans Half Corona) and thought they were reasonable enough for an every day smoke.

Finally made the jump to something a little more special last weekend (Montecristo No. 4) and instantly fell in love. Don't think I can go back to the Henri Wintermans now!

Looking for a few recommendations on where to go next? A few I've been looking at are Cohiba Siglo 2, Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial, Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona.

    Welcome to the forums.

I?m very new myself but I would suggest picking a cigar size/shape and ordering some singles from different brands and see what you like.

At this stage, I think it's more a matter of you trying anything you can get your hands on, so you find out, what kind of flavor and strength you'd like.

I noticed that you only listed Cuban cigars, commonly known as CCs here on the forum. And I would recommend to give Non-Cubans (aka NCs) a try as well. Anything from Oliva is quite solid. Headley Grange is a great mild cigar and if you browse the forum, you should find a few more recommendations...

It helps to write down some notes when you smoke to detect what you are tasting and to become aware what you like and what not.

Yes just try as much as you can really, it's half the enjoyment of cigars is discovering them. Hard to give a huge amount of recommendations at this stage until you have a better idea of preference, just try a load and that may start directing you.

Welcome onboard, I see you entered the cigar world through a very traditional way, for those of us of mor esenior yrs, Henri Winterman's & Castella's,Hamlet' s & King Edwards were the cigars on sale in UK pubs in the 70's & there were what most of us would have cut our teeth on, unless we had a relative who was into Havana's, who could have guided us & shared a few with us.
You're right of course, they seem reasonable smokes until you try something better & then there is no going back! Even Machine Made Cuban cigars are more than x10 better IMHO so you are on the slippery road to Havana heaven & penury!

I would wait to try the Cohiba Siglo II & try the other's you listed fist. Maybe try the II at Christmas, by then it'll make your day in a big way & you'll already have experience more 'normal' hand made or 'puro' cigars & will be better able to appreciate the difference in flav of the Cohiba & hopefully that will justify the extra cost for high days & holidays. Our Sponsor has several sample packs of petit coronas or robustos which are a good place to start.

Keep posting the exciting world of cigars lies before you & we will be happy to share those discoveries with you.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

I'm sure i'll have plenty more questions.

Just bought a few at lunch today for this weekend from my local tobacconist. tried a new one, and couldn't resist another Monte no.4!

I would definitely recommend the Black Market Robusto. It was considerably more full flavour wise than what I've smoked up until now, but a really good smoke. Quick a bit of peppery spice to it and lasted a good hour

Hi and welcome 🙏 to the forum. As others have said, try as many size and shapes of CC and NC you can get your hands on to get a sense of what suits your palate and time you have available to smoke a cigar. If you liked the AB Black Market, also try the AB Prensado (Lost Art) in a Toro or Churchill size
