This has probably been brought up numerous times since the forum began.

I enjoy the peace and quiet and serenity of sitting out the back door or wherever I may be in humble bliss enjoying a cigar paired with either an alcoholic beverage, coffee, or soft juice. However to Mrs K this appears to be an ongoing issue. Along the lines of 'another cigar, another delivery, you not smoking to much, that's stinking, to name but a few comments.

Is it just me or are our other halves adverse to us smoking cigars? I mean, just give me hour out of the 24hr day to enjoy a stick then I' m all yours.

Quite simple really, or is it?

In my experience. They get used to it. Another delivery! How much! Another humidor! Forum again! Eventually turns into. Why don't you sit outside and have a cigar?

I think it's a fairy common pattern. Not the only one mind.
    .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

          They get used to it...eventually!

Particularly if they see the enjoyment you get out of it!

In my experience it's not restricted to cigars. It's anything they are not interested in.
Cars, gardening, DIY, hobbies the lot. Unless you're doing something they want they are never happy.

there is a new verb thanks to cigars.... I am not one for siting out in the sun. Mrs C is. If there is a warm evening I am now often asked ' are you cigar-ing' this evening' . There is but one rule... no D4's around her... she cannot abide the smell of a D4... finds the smell overwhelmingly bitter...

Cigars = we sit out together. Apparently I'm worth it

MLW asks 'Are you sitting out?' in the evening meaning the same thing.

My wife has got used to me smoking at opportune moments but hates the smell so she doesn't want to be too close to me when I do e.g we have a small walled patio instead of a garden, she usually finds that too much to sit out if I am smoking but will occasionally or if we have friends over. If we go down to the cafe & sit in the sun, that's better as the breeze usually carries the smell away. My daughter & mother are better trained & after insisting on going to the pub after treating them to a chinese meal recently, they both sat themselves in the smoking section of the garden, waiting for me to light up when I returned with the drinks. When I didn't they asked why we were there at all! Just to sit in an English pub garden, on a sunny day with my family & a pint of English beer. Sometimes that's all you need as an exile!
