  • Serious question...

My wife has decided that, because the neighbour closed their window, once, the other day whilst I was smoking, that I am to no longer smoke in our garden lest it offends them. Our garden isn't small - I'm 40m from said window.

    So, should I leave her?

Just do what most of us married men do Geoff, turn a deaf ear & carry on. Maybe they closed it because it was windy or because a fly got in. An Englishman's home might not be castle these days but his garden should at least be his own free space.

My thoughts exactly mate. I'm a very considerable neighbour. She's no walkover though, so I went to the pub and smoked this utter dog turd. Terrible shape, bad construction, plugged all the way through it seems, and the band is upside down. Lazy effing Italians. 20190601_152041.jpg

This forum needs to be mobile responsive. Otherwise I have to use tapatalk which thinks my cigar is an adult image and forces an attachment instead which then rotates it fml

Easy, go to the neighbours and explain that you enjoy a cigar every now and then. Explain that you'd understand if the smell can bother them and ask them to let you know if they notice and mind, so you can move to another spot. Problem solved... [emoji5]

The wife asked the neighbours the other day if they could hear our boiler late at night. They said 'yes I guess a little', and since then I'm now not allowed to shower past 10.30pm. So, no, but thanks for the suggestion!

I'd carry on regardless mate, it's bad enough being treated like lepers out in public spaces, your garden do as you wish, if they complain sit naked and do it

Guessing you're not married [emoji6] My wife is excellent and makes me toasties when I get in at 5am, but she worries so much about what the neighbours think. She physically took my cigars from me last time! I'm 3 times her size but yeah...

Edit - they don't complain, she does.

I'd suggest you start getting quotes for a very large garden cabin complete with plumbing for a shower room and top quality filtered air extraction,......then show your wife the quotes.
When she objects to the 30k plus price tag suggest option two

So joking aside Geoff when I told my fantastic wife of 34 years she was astounded. A reality check is definitely needed I'm afraid. I deal with anti social behaviour all the time and boilers and smoking at a range of 40m doesn't even register on the scale.

You could always try to convert your neighbour to a BOTL.

Build a mancave or get a shed, far cheaper and the saves the wifes worries. Plus great for winter too.

Omg. Leave the wife with the neighbors.

Thanks for the support chaps! Is smoking inside say a shed (which I do have) not a bit gross? Looking for practical solutions here
