Tips For Prague

I have a friend who is visiting Prague this weekend, and she has made the kind offer to get me cigars if I like. Anyone have recent experience on any cigar gems I could direct them towards during their visit?

I’ve tried tracking down some place in Prague before, but gave up, cigars seemed quite a bit more expensive than Germany/Poland.

Your best option would be the LCDH. The employees aren't very nice or helpful and were reluctant to let me into the walk in humidor. Across the street a little further up is a store called Baker Street if I remember this correctly. Mainly Cohibas and BHKs to be found there. The BHKs looked funky. Further up the street is another store, don't recall the name. The woman working there was pretty nice.

When you walk from the city center towards the station there's another big tobacco/cigar store in a side street towards the right. It's pretty easy to spot. Well stocked.

In the tourist part is a small store run by Asians (when you walk towards that bridge leading into the old part of town, left side) they sell drinks, souvenirs and cigars. Had a lot of older ELs and such in a showcase without any humidification. They all looked funky.

Most tobacco stores carry cigars, I have visited around a dozen. Prices are high and I bought some aged sticks that aren't smoking as well as they should. BHKs were available almost everywhere when I went two years ago which seemed a little weird to me since they have been extremely hard to source for years.

If yo visit the LCDH there's a butcher shop a little further up or down the street. They sell lunch, burgers and such. You will see a lot of people standing in line. Grab yourself a burger. They were stellar!

Eating out is cheap in comparison to the UK, and 0.5l of beer is about ?1.70. As a destination for cigar buying though it gets a thumbs down. The LCDH is the only place I found where I would buy cigars as although there are other shops, the ones I looked in didn't appear to take much care when it comes to storage or humidification. That said, I was somewhat limited in my hunting as I had 'the ball and chain' with me the whole time.

My only acquisitions were the last 16 Hoyo du Roi from 2003 from the LCDH at the equivalent of ?7.50 ea, which I was quite pleased with. The few other boxes I looked at were all from 2018 and compared to other countries, with the exception of the UK, seemed expensive.

From what I remember from quite a few years back, I thought there was a couple of others that were reasonable, does my memory fail me or have they gone down hill to a point where I should avoid? E.g. The "Baker Street" store or "House of Churchill"?

Odd that the singles are reasonable but the boxes seem expensive. I can't seem to find any sites with box prices etc.

I've heard that a lot about the LCDH. In fact there's an old UKCF regular who I noticed had left a rather shitty review on tripadvisor about the LCDH! I'm going to give it a go later in the week to see what hilarity ensues...
