Air Purifiers

Evening All,

Does anyone here use an air-purifier for indoor smoking? If so, is it effective in removing odours? What brand/model do you use? I?m considering one of the models below for my office/studio, but have to be careful as I work with people?s voices, hence why I usually smoke outside (unless the studio is closed for a few days and I can air it out!)

I use a Blueair 230 slimline with a smoke stop filter - I leave it running in the room on its lowest setting 24*7. When I smoke in the cabin/room I turn it up to med/high, depending on if the cigar smoke is strong or not. The room size i use it in is 16m2. I tend to find only the very slightest stale cigar smoke I can still smell after 24 hours, which I blitz with a effusion oil lampe to get rid of any lingering odours. - See my thread on building my summerhouse if you want more details. One thing to note. I also use an extractor fan, which circulates the room air 5 times in an hour. Not sure how effective the Blueair would be on just its own though? I might try smoking in the cabin and only use the Blueair - see what the results are

The best way is to extract the smoke before it has a chance to create a smell.

I have an extractor fan, but after a few weeks of smoking, the smell starts to appear. I have an ozone generator that I'll leave on for a couple of hours and that completely eradicates the smell

I've considered the ozone generator as well, just a bit worried as I'll have it working in the office, which is on the upper floor where our room also is - not sure if this might be an issue.

You can't be in the room or anywhere near it when on! Seal it up, run it and run away... When it's finished hold your breath, run in and air asap. I'm lucky I have two big velux windows in the loft office/smoking room

I ran just the purifier last night whilst smoking without the extractor running. I left the purifier on medium speed overnight. A feint trace of cigar smoke I could still smell this morning. I turned the purifier down to sleep mode and left it on during the day. Came home tonight smells as fresh as a daisy - no windows or doors open - result!

Well that's very good to know, thanks for doing the experiment. It appears it does take longer then an ozone generator to get rid of the cigar smell, but has the added advantages of not being potentially harmful and of purifying the air while you're smoking, which you can't do with the ozone generator.
