Social media could easily make you think that the only smokes worth enjoying are the premium releases, LE, anejado etc. and while they are glorious, there are plenty of superb sticks within regular production. The point being the tidal wave of posts about cigar life can be quite convincing and lead people to strive for the best of the best all of the time, particularly as they begin a journey of learning about cigars.

While there are any number of white whales out there the BHK's are IMHO the most obvious statement cigar... I have a couple that I bought a good number of years ago. I've smoked some and have a couple left. they are good. The pound for pound value isn't there for me as a financially normal mortal being... well not for buying by the box load. But they are seductive!
Now, I'm stuffed if I can find the clip now... was on instagram... a block of BHK56's in cellophane, with glossy black boxes - an obvious fake, despite high quality holo stickers etc.. .and there is another of exceptionally high quality lacquer boxes of 10 BHk54's going around too....

Newbies... dont get suckered. The fakes are getting better and better. BHK's cost a lot and there is rarely a discount available - the best you can hope for is buying them somewhere where the tax is favourable. But price alone is no guarantee. The best advice I can give newbies is buy cautiously, and sample. There will always be exciting new things to spend your cash on... just go carefully and make sure you are getting what you feel you are paying for.

If i was spending serious money i would only buy them from trusted retailers. I know they can be hard to find but that in itself is playing into the hands of the bootleggers..

its always the same, they will spend good money copying them because there is good money to be had in them. but they will always be one step behind. making it easier for those in the know to spot but the general guy on the street/newbie wont have a scoobie

I buy some BHKs from time to time. But I always do so from B&M stores that I trust. Never on websites or FB.

i fell foul of fake CoRO years ago... they what I remember to be something akin to a lack lacquer behike box (this was pre-Behike launch) in a store in Jamaica. two thirds of the box were pretty good and had a semblance of a cohiba profile (vaguely!!), the remainder were rock solid and took a while to burn even when thrown on a fire!... but they provided good ballast in a humi for a while. At the time the dollar was at 2 to the pound and it was tax free too so it cost me buttons, but I still feel sore for being led down a path when I knew no better!

I was lucky enough to pick up a box of EMS BHK 52s last year from CASC. If I recall correctly, the box cost me just under ?330. Still a lot to spend on rolled up leaves, but definitely genuine sticks and superb service as always from CASC.
