Dryboxing

Evening all,

I appreciate I maybe asking about flogging a dead horse with this topic, but I have only just heard the term 'dryboxing' could someone shed some light on what this is and the reason for doing it?

Some people like a drier smoke and so will leave a cigar in an unhumidified 'dry' box for a day or so to let it dry out slightly. Not quite the same but I have left a pair of JLs out overnight to smoke tomorrow because the humidity in my cabin is 65% at the moment.

What sort of burn issues? 62% should give you a drier slightly faster burn, most people prefer 65%, our colonial cousins seem to like 70%

If you're running 62% I wouldn't expect burn issues as that is quite dry. Does the humidor/storage space experience many fluctuations in temperature at all?

Relative humidity means less without temperature data. 62, 65, 70%???? You could be talking about the same absolute humidity given the right temperature differential.

I find burns can be uneven, not all the time but can be touching up 5 plus times per stick.

Temp wise its fairly stable, its not in direct sunlight but is in a room that gets sun - I'm in a one bed flat so not a lot of places to put it

Uneven burns are usually due to poor construction. Being too humid usually results in a poor burn that requires constant drawing or relighting hence why some people drybox their cigars. Try smoking a cigar that's too dry, I did and went through a D4 in 20 minutes.

No, this was a buy this year from a member who will remain anonymous. The rest of the buy have been brought back up to correct humidity.
