All the cedar will do is soak up moisture and add smell, if your container doesn't smell then don't worry about it.

Personally i leave them in the tubes ... like they do in the shops

Though i know a few folks like to pop the lids off

That is a major bone of contention and basically its all down to personal preference. I keep all my tubos in their tubes in their own humidor

Same here. But there are a few exceptions where I take the stick out of the tube a few weeks prior to smoking it.
