London Pubs

I've noticed that quite a few of you on here are from London, so I was wondering which pubs in central London (let's say Zone 1 of the tube) score on both the "good beer" and "cigar friendly" scale? Recommendations in the Notting Hill area are particularly appreciated!

I'd be interested in answers to this question. I just don't go into London anymore because of the smoking ban. I hear Pubs are shutting down like billy-o all over the country - it always was the smokers that kept them going.

for Notting Hill the Windsor Castle is ideal, large beer garden with covered areas heaters etc, great pub grub and good beer :

Popped into the Windsor Castle last night - very cosy pub and a good seating area outside (which, in fairness, was heaving). Unfortunately a couple of their handpumps were off... Certainly worth a visit if you're in the area.

It's not a pub, but I would recommend the crusting pipe in Covent Garden, practically underneath the segar and snuff parlour. Back in the indoor smoking era, it was perfect for a coffee and a stick freshly purchased from the above parlour. Fond memories ...
