• 3 and 5 packs lesser quality?

Was wondering if the 3 and 5 pack cigars are the same quality as their bigger boxed brethren?

I rarely buy these but have a threesome of esplendidos and Coro's. They also came straight out of their boxes because I find they don't have much smell if they stay in their coffins.

    Any strong views?

    B.

No views myself, I like packs of cigars although I prefer tins. I know that tommy has strong views about cigars picking up the smell of the cardboard.

I've mainly bought cohibas in 5 packs over the last few years and I have found the quality to be excellent. I have some MUO Siglo 2 and Siglo 4 from cardboard which are beautiful cigars.

There's a school of thought that the cardboard isn't a good material for aging so I usually avoid aged cardboard packs.

Buying recent-ish production and taking them out the packs to age in bags or a humidor I've had good results.

I have some old original issue Vegueros from RobustoClubHavana in cardboard and never felt the need to decant them

i always leave them as they come until smoked only way you will get a problem is if they have been over humidified and the cardboard has become moist then you can have issues with the cigar

I've not had a bad experience with it to be fair, it's just what I've heard that has always made me avoid them. Can probably chalk it up as one of the many cigar myths floating around.

I concur. The 5 pack of Siglo II that I bought are amazing.

I haven't noticed any measurable difference between boxes and smaller packs, but then my experience is fairly limited. I would have thought it is more to do with the storage conditions than the packaging material. Having said that, cigars do tend to absorb scents; I was sent some singles wrapped in cling film around 6 months ago and they still smell faintly of it.

I've purchased a few 3 & 5 packs that have come in cardboard boxes. I usually remove all packaging and place the cigars in the humidor. Not really noticed any taste differences, with my limited knowledge
