Quite simply, have you read any? If so, which do you rate and why?

The Ultimate Cigar Book by Richard Carleton Hacker is my only cigar related read to date. It?s well written, easy to read, highly informative and the author has a sense of humour.

My understanding and appreciation of cigars is mostly down to reading this book.

That's good news as I ordered it from Amazon just before posting this thread!

        Just the basics!

There are several good books out there, including ?The Complete Idiot?s Guide Cigars,? but if you are looking for a quick primer, the CA Pocket Guide is a good start.

The ?idiot?s guide? is packed full of useful or not so useful, depending on your interests, but it?s getting a bit long in the tooth (2nd edition, 2007). But still a good reference guide, IMHO.

For those with every other book, the MRN's is a must. Luckily I bought one from Mitch at ?55, they now go for ?300+ & if you're really keen there is currently a sealed one being auctioned, 'For this auction I offer an original, sealed Min Ron Nee first English edition "Encyclopaedia Of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars". It has never been opened. Perfect mint & original condition' Starting price E350 but I think it may top E450!

                        Right. That?s a nice price, I guess...but what?s it worth to you?

From time to time I like to sit back with one of the don?s finest puros and peruse the pages of the MRN book, which the don also picked up in the UK during the 2009 London Puro Walk, led by none other than the late Se?or brokenwing (aka, Nic Wing). And I don?t think he would let me sell his copy...not even for E500, whatever that is.

No I wouldn't sell mine & I do regularly refer to it, particularly using the life size photos for identifying unbanded cigars. But one day my daughter won't want it & then it will be sold, as a 'working copy'.
