Favourite Third?

Hmmm, good question, my immediate thought when reading the title was the 2nd third, that’s where the taste starts to develop and I find my self in the ‘zone’ (oh dear). But of course, the ritual and anticipation of the 1st third is also a favourite, a different type of enjoyment. And what is more enjoyable, when the stick is right, than peeling the band off and burning your fingers trying to eek every last puff out a wonderfully developed final third.

Living Large!

I enjoy the 1st third for the reasons noted above & I always start with a coffee to get the most of the milder flav, that you get at the start. By the 2nd third I am usually drinking a Belgian beer & this will be where the cigar usually peaks for me but on exceptional & usually vintage cigars, the smoke will stay great down to finger burning stage, otherwise I usually just move the band down a cm or so & put it down when it reaches that stage.

I almost always smoke until I burn my fingers, partly because I don't like waste, and partly because I actually really enjoy the final third when the smoke gets hotter. I tend to smoke my pipe a little to hot too. Don't know why, I just like it. I also eat hot coals.

P.S. Don't eat hot coals. That was a joke.

As with most people it seems, I prefer the second 3rd. That point where you're fully invested in the smoke and really starting to relax!

Last third. If I had someone on hand to smoke the first two thirds that would suit me.

I must be a masochist because I seem to prefer the last third, especially so on longer smokes.
