Punch Churchill Dissected

I recently got in some Punch Churchills and SLR Serie A. Both from 00. When I took a closer look, a few of them had what appeared to be green mold. I dissected the Punch and found a considerable amount of green mold (I presume it is green mold) on the binder. Might be worht checking your stogies if you got them recently and they are from '00

Does the mold look 'active', or dormant (if you know what I mean), and is it present throughout the whole cluster of leaves, or on specific ones?

It seems to be just on the binder (Alot) and on the wrapper, although not as much on the wrapper, let me see if I can get a good pic

I have no idea if it is active or dormant

Edit: After looking at the binder, not sure I want to smoke them Anyone know if it's harmful?

I doubt whether there's a health risk, just a swine-flavour-pandemic across the population of your taste buds.

Ooh yeah. It's a difficult one to know if it originated from the inside out, or vice versa Size of mark/stain/spore would give some indication. Where are the mould experts when you need them?

In relation to issues around that time (99-2000/1), I'm not experienced, or knowledgeable enough to offer advice as to what might have been the problem. Looking at it though, it seems to have been an isolated issue that affected binder and/or wrapper leaves (no sh!t Sherlock).

Someone'll be along soon to offer some more information about what was happening back then. He might be a JL man.

I had a look at some of the filler leaves and a few do contain mold, but it is very hard to see/take pics of because the filler leaves are so dark

Green spoticus maximus I reckon Matt. Not harmful to health, only wallet and taste potentially.

Have you smoked one yet?

If you're not happy, send them back. Likihood of getting another box with the very same issue is slim (hopefully)

Reminds me of the only absolute dog that I have ever had.....

I remember it WAS a punch churchill, but no idea what the year was.

anyway, it had an almost indescribable taste; totally foul and unsmokable.

I remember walking outside and literally hurling it as far as I could (I think it landed on someone's greenhouse (no breaking glass sound though!)

I can tell you it wasn't a "fake" as such, just one of those unfortunate mouldy, foul bad apples that occasionally get through.

I would be looking at attempting to contact 1001 and getting your money back.That is piss poor quality control.

Already sent them an email, waiting on a reply. It is awful quality control.
