Even a small area of grass and wild flowers would look great. Needs poor soil and thorough getting rid of competitor weeds / grass.
On my plan to turn over part of my land to this. To encourage polinating insects and bug predators. Then bees ...

A few years ago on a trip to Germany, the small town I went to had patches of wild flowers on public lawn. They were rectangular patches with very defined boarders. It looked absolutely fantastic in contrast to the mowed lawn.

And with insect populations collapsing, every little helps!
