This is why I had artificial lawn installed last year! Best 4K I've ever spent! Sit back, smoke and admire ; )

Great alternative would have been a camomile lawn. Only needs mowing once a year, is sturdy and smells lovely... ☺

Not hard wearing so shouldn't really be walked on much.
Smells lovely though.

How about a meadow type with tall grasses and native flowers if you don't walk on it much. Mow a path through it then cut once per year.

The chamomile used is a special low growing variety. I am not sure, but I think it's not used for tea. Could be wrong though...

You sure? I saw James Wong once do a bench made of chamomile. To be fair, I have only seen it on TV, haven't tried it myself yet.

Meadow is also great! And beautiful. But in a small garden where 1/4 is in shade from the fence, that might be an issue... Just for the wildlife alone it would be great. There is great pleasure to watch bees and flies and bugs filling the air with buzz and life.

We've got a decent sized garden where we are. So approx 75sqm of fake grass would be a big job! I prefer grass but we are struggling with patches. Time to call in the experts this year.

Even a small area of grass and wild flowers would look great. Needs poor soil and thorough getting rid of competitor weeds / grass.
On my plan to turn over part of my land to this. To encourage polinating insects and bug predators. Then bees ...
