  • Tobacco Beetles

Hey guys...had a mini heart this evening...

Was checking my cigars and adding some cigars to scuba...when i noticed these holes in two of my royal Corona....i can't say I'm noticed these but they are on the bottom row of the box...i checked my hole collection and nothing.

Any idea or tips...I've isolated the two and got them in tubos.

I know the temperature in my house isn't too hot..if it peaks the highest is 21 and that would only be in the evening for and hour or so....but my cigars are stored the coolest part of the house so i don't think it could be the hatching

May have happened prior to them getting Frozen in Cuba. They would not have hatched in the current conditions, and if it was active in summer I’d expect a lot more damage. I’d just isolate, freeze if you want, but smoke them sooner rather than later
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

No personal experience myself. But these are what beetle holes look like from pics... If there isnt dust all over the shop you should be ok. Were these sticks checked before and they were ok? So theyve happened since youve had them? A box of RC's or singles?
      .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Take the precaution of freezing all the stock in the that humi, & gain peace of mind.

These were in a box in the scuba..would you put them all in or just the ones in the box?

I would isolate the box and checkout and then freeze them to be sure the others will be ok, I personally would not smoke the ones that are damaged as I tried that once and the cigar was not very nice at all, but it is your choice and as mentioned before the beetles may have hatched before you got the box this can happen. about the other cigars if they are ok and your house never gets hotter then 21 you should be fine.

                  Tobacco Beetles

Freeze those m$??er f%#+ers! I spent 20 minutes checking my cigars a few days ago, just to refresh my memory on what I have. It was a nice surprise to find a few I?d forgotten about. Not so nice to find I?ve only got 2 left in a couple of boxes [emoji27]

Freezing is the best option. I do 24h in the fridge, 24h in the freezer, 24h in the fridge then 6-8 hours at room temp all in a ziplock bag with as much air removed as possible. There?s a scientific paper on how to kill beetles using low temperatures if you are bored enough to read it!
