Personally the whole reserva line is too rich for my pockets!

I'll be sitting this one out...

I picked up a couple in Germany last month. They were expensive but not that expensive.

        I can't afford a box.

What I want though is the Gran Reserva Sir Winston once it has been released (that won't be soon though). I have already been talking to my cigar seller and I probably could get a box. It would have to be split though.... (hint, hint).

I've not read up on the whole reserve line but what is so special about them?

You can read up on them here:

Yes, and many of those releases are "prestige" releases. You see guys proudly posting 10 Reserva and Behike boxes on FB and IG. For some these releases are the same as an expensive car, a high end rolex and a trophy wife. A sign of money and "success".

I have to admit that I'm a sucker for some of these sticks (but not all of them). But I like to get one or two at retail (not the UK one though) just to try them eventually. But so far I have purchased only two different Reserva sticks. Wouldn't mind to get my hands on two of the Sir Winstons once they have been released and I would love to try that Gran Reserva Lusi as well.

They're expensive so must be special.

I wouldn't even buy a standard Epi2, very overrated stick, i have smoked nearly a whole box of these now and yet to see what all the fuss is about........its a nice stick but really not something to be given a 'Reserva' status.

The Epi1 on the other hand

Overrated! I would agree there shouldn't be a Reserva of this vitola but that's because a couple of years on the leaf isn't going to change it in a significant way, that just aging the standard stick 5yrs+. How old was your box? I am currently smoking a 50 cab 2005 & they are superb.

good point well made... (not black catting you! ) the epi2 is a solid stick but go with aging your own for sure... They rarely disappoint on construction, flavour or quality. but do they hit the very highs from the off? probably not. Do they ever disappoint - almost never. And they age nicely. Too good a stick at sensible normal prices to worry about a gilt edged version IMHO

Does anyone else prefer the epi especial? Ive had a box of both and found the flavours to be much better.

I was never that fussed on the epi 1 or 2 when I first tried them but really liked the especial. I've never really bothered with the epi 1 or 2 after that as the especial was also a better size for me. I have acquired some epi 1's recently to re try them. Maybe it's time to revisit the epi 2 aswell.
