  • Cigar Whisky Combination

After a pretty strenuous night shift I have decided to unwind with a scotch and a quick smoke, H. Upmann half corona and a tot of Balvenie doublewood 17 year old. What a combination, thought the whisky brought out chocolate flavours I didn't realise were there before. Can anyone else recommend drinks that bring out other flavours in cigars or vice versa?

Believe it or not full fat Coke can bring out caramel flavours and the only time I've actually tasted marzipan from a cigar was when I was also eating some exotic popcorn from M&S

There was a definite change in flavour, really enhanced the experience, very nice.

Whisky is my go too usually. Enjoy a rich sherried dram like Glendronnach with a cigar but currently enjoying an Armagnac with a wee vegueros beastie I picked up. Most enjoyable. I find the right music adds to the experience too, out on the deck listening to Gillian Welch [emoji1305]

I'm not sure if the OP is still around, but an interesting topic nevertheless. Im enjoying the pairing of Dr Pepper with pretty much every cigar I'm smoking at the moment. Seems to highlight flavours nicely.

I do love a whisky and cigar...in the past year i found the following goes really well
            balvenie rum cask 14 yr
            Bains cape town whisky
            Glenfiddich 15 selero
            Dalmore 15

O haven't had the green spot with one but can seeing that pairing well

I did purchase one of the cigar malts...for the price point I wouldn't recommend them as there are other whisky that would go much better at a better price

With a Cigar I prefer the Speyside Whiskies.

Although I'm generally not a Bourbon drinker I got a bottle of Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack from my wife and discovered it went well with a Trinidad Reyes. They really complimented each other so well I got a 5-pack for the repeat experience.
