  • Best Smoke of 2017

So with the end of the year coming I thought it would be good to post up our favourites from the past 12 months.

For me best regular production smokes have been H Upman Mag 46 and the PL Picadore.

Best limited/regional was the Ramon Allones, Grand Robusto, Belenux.

    So what was yours?

This has been my first year of serious cigar smoking. After dabbling in flavoured sticks and low end NCs (with the occasional CC blind buy) I took the plunge and ordered some Cubans that seemed to earn praise wherever I looked:

The first cigar this year to really wow me was the Trinidad Reyes.

The second would be the ERDM Grandes de Espagna (2003). This one opened my eyes to how aging enhances the flavour profile of a cigar.

Finally the RASS took my tastebuds on a weird and wonderful journey, starting with spearmint and transitioning to chocolate cake... a bit like eating dessert and brushing your teeth at the same time!

Now that my stock is building, I am looking forward to 2018 and the warmer months!

Without a doubt the 1999 Hdm Churchill that I had at JJ Fox the other day, to the point where I will probably be selling a couple of boxes of other cigars that I purchased this year to fund the acquisition of a box for myself.

Mine have definitely been some aged smokes too from the humidor

          Monte C 2003
          Punch Series D'Oro 2013
          Monte 2 ~2008

          Also
          Party Maduro No 1
          VR Famosos

For me too 2017 has been a key year. Finally bought some boxes instead of just singles. So I'll have some options in 10 years time Finally started using this forum!

Cheers! And here's to a better 2018 still!

I've looked through my excel sheet and these are the highest ratings I had this year:

                  RyJ Cazadores GAT ABR 13 - 94
                  Punch DC AOB ABR 12 - 95
                  Hoyo DC LOM JUN 13 - 96

Not surprised by the punch as every one so far from the box has been an amazing smoke. The other two where definitely out of the ordinary.

I've been reading these posts and trying to think which mine would be, tbh I struggle to identify single stand out cigars, every time I light a stick I feel fortunate to be able to do so and savour the gift of a Cuban cigar.
                      La dolce vita, viva habanos

In other words, yet another reason (as if any more were needed this year) to be thankful one is not an American!

The irony is, its easier to get the cheapest Cubans in the world from the Duty free stores straight to your door in the USA with no risk of customs charges

That's a heck of a journey in a year, pray tell how you came across GdEspana, a deleted line, entering the HTF bracket?
