Cohiba Fakes

So i was just on facebook and saw a post...someone wanted to make sure what they were given wasn't fake.


To me it looks real but alot of people said it was fake what do you think?

i have to say the level of fakes are outstanding if this is anything to go by.

i personally wouldn't have been able to tell if i had one in my hand by it self

Looks like there's some issue with the printing of the 'A' on the left, which might set alarm bells ringing...

Apart from that I really couldn't tell.

Viewing on a proper screen instead of my phone would probably flag up a few.more details.

The white silhouette is also larger on the RHS - though again, i would not have known this unless i was playing spot the difference...

I can't see owt wrong with them. The issue with the 'A' appears to be light reflection. That said the labels could be genuine and the cigars fake.

There are extremely well made Cohiba fakes at the moment. I don't know if anyone followed the Behike drama in the US on FB. Serves them right, one shouldn't purchase Cohibas on FB. Just get them from a trusted vendor and you'll get the real deal.

the they say the one's on the left is fake...also look at Habana Cuba its a bit bold...Like horsebox i would have just thought its a slight printing problem and QA check...rather than a fake.

It is such a gamble purchasing high end smokes (especially Cohiba) from FB and the like. As [MENTION=13450212]gojira[/MENTION] has said, for those kind of cigars i would only ever get it from a source where i can trace it back to the factory - it's just not worth the expense.

Some guy selling cigars on a US facebook group was contacted by another guy who seemed legit to sell Behikes on that group so that they both could make a lot of profit. After they sold a lot of boxes it turned out that the guy who seemed legit scammed the other guy. Now everybody is crying, people are taking sides, putting up raffles to help the guy refund all the people to whom he sold those fakes (you can't take away from the guy that he is trying to refund everybody). But in the end it's all about profit, like all those FB sellers.

I'm not against making a little profit, but I can't stand those guys selling newly released cigars of FB. QdO 50 and 54 and all the new RE's for example.

If you are selling aged sticks or something that isn't available any longer, why not make a little profit, especially if you took care of these cigars for a long time, but just walking into a store, getting 10 boxes of something available and selling them at retail plus 30%.... FU!!!!

I think there should be a limited number you can purchase at a time, couple of boxes - it's just like ticket touting, and all boils down to greed!

It could be the image, but the one on the left does look fake. The holograms at the top looks bad and the printing of the lettering at the bottom is bad.

I'm no expert but I would have said the one on the right is fake as the gold lettering looks to be flat whereas the one one the left appears to have embossed lettering.

I would have said the one on the left but only after having time to look at it and having the one on the right to compare against. If the stick was on it's own it would probably be a different outcome.
Most of these could be explained away with quality control but I saw the following which made me wonder about the one on the left :

The white squares are slightly rounded.
The position of the neck over the top of the H, it's central on the one on the left.
The embossing isn't crisp
The printing script is slightly blurred (the a in Cuba)
The colour of the yellow on the band

There's quite a few sites or would seem that sell fakes and HSA don't seem to care to do anything about them.

And let's not forget the fake whiskey story recently. I'll stick to trusted resellers and you lot I think! :P

Always check box codes, dates and labels and stay away from where everyone's stampeding.

If it seems to good to be true, it usually is...
