• Cigar Highs and Lows 2017

As we approach the final month of the year and reflect back on 2017, what are some of your cigar related highs and lows this year?

For me...
High: Re-kindling my appreciation of a good cigar and finding this fantastic forum full of friendly, like-minded people.
Low: Discovering that the BHK 52 that I enjoyed so much in 2015 will likely be a one off as it is now way above what I will pay for a cigar unfortunately.

High: Finding a box and half BHK 52 whilst in Cuba
Low: PLPC with some age on that i'd been saving for 'just the right moment', only to find it was plugged when the right moment came about.

High - a great weekend staying in Ten Manchester Street and working through their fantastic humidor.

Low - not having that much opportunity to smoke this year, mainly due to being busy and losing our dog (who I often used as an excuse to herf whilst walking). I did also have a plugged Upmann Petit Corona, which was disappointing at the time.

High - rekindled the collection this year. Lit up a few golden oldies and laid down a few boxes for time to come. First year I've done that in a long time. Likewise, activated myself on here after a long time dormant. Has helped build up the collection so thanks to all! This has led going from 3 humidors + a tupperdor => a cabinet. Which has simplified things somewhat!

Lows - hmmmm struggling a bit here. Disappointed to discover just how mild the Monte Open series is! Oh and the lid on my Xikar lighter is getting stuck! And UK pricing as usual.

Highs: Common theme this, coming back to this forum and enjoying a good cigar after several years away from the lifestyle. Discovering a few cheaper Cubans while on holiday which surprised me by their depth of quality and value of money. Also finding a full box of SD3 I forgot I had.

Lows: Too much neglect towards my humidors and some cigars have had to be thrown out while others are on a long road to recovery.

High: Finding a very nice box of QdO Imperiales that is currently in deep sleep.

Lows: Checking the website of the LCDH Prague and seeing that they were supposed to have the Vegueros Especiales No.2 in stock. I was very exited to buy a box or two upon my arrival in Prague. Once I got to the store I got a "No stock!!!!!" from the extremely unpolite chick who was working there.

That MUST have been some foul customer service to have beaten the Boar Cigar for biggest low...
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

Yeah, I really wanted a box of the Especiales No.2. But the boar cigar comes in at the second place.

Highs: building my collection slowly but surely...a week in Lanzarote where I managed to smoke 2 sticks a day.

Lows: From the same holiday: a very underwhelming Behike 52.
Finding a cigar shop in Arrecife with more aged stock than I could have physically carried or brought back to the UK- when I made my selection of boxes, a box of Monte tubos, a box of Monte 5, a box of P2 and various tubos 3 packs, the woman in the shop wouldn't let me inspect the contents. One of the other boxes on the shelf had slight water damage so I wasn't willing to take a risk. I left empty handed [emoji26]

Lows: being ill for the last 2 months now meaning I've not been able to smoke

Cigars highlight of the year for me was definitely the cigar orientated holiday to Geneva with RobustoClubHavana and Wigan.

Low point would be as others have said, UK cigar prices.
