Richard Littlejohn wrote a similar article a few months ago after discovering that Australian doctors are trialling nicotine patches to help treat Alzheimers. Caffeine apparently also has positive effects in that area as well as helping to prevent four types of oral cancer caused by smoking and drinking. Its not all bad news

Interesting but don't hold your breath waiting for any positive acknowledgements from the Medical authorities.
My motto has always been moderation. Smoking cigars (without inhaling), moderately, is unlikely to do you much harm; as long as you haven't any respiratory or circulatory conditions.

Most medicinal drugs come from plant origins and the benefits / detriments based upon concentration used.
Alcohol can be beneficial but again in moderation. A glass of red wine -good. A 6 pack of Tennants Super - not so.Comment
