Designed it myself using sketchup. Needed it an odd shape to make the most of the space. Really enjoyed the build.

Serious cabin-envy going on right now Shaun! It looks great. Saw it in the 'what are you smoking' thread and was going to ask about it. What was the build cost from scratch? I imagine it was a bit more complex than an off the shelf job?

Total cost in the ?2k region, not including the furniture but including all the electrical stuff, its also fully insulated which added to the cost. However I was able to get some of the wood, the doors and flooring at cost prices which certainly kept the cost down. I wouldn't say its complex, if you plan it out and dont rush it should be a good project to undertake.

Forgot to add, I already had a base in place from a previous building so that saved some initial cost as well, the biggest outlay for this was the wood cladding on the outside and inside walls. The outside is a loglap cladding, nice stuff.

any reason why you went for wooden cladding rather than the plastic one?

Plastic? Never even considered it. Wood is far nicer for a building like this IMO

I have seen it as well, you can yell its not real straight away. I think if your having something that will be a big feature in your Garden and your seeing it everyday then best to get it looking as good as you can, even if it means holding off until you can buy quality materials.

looks good matey. I built a garden office at my last house using marley cedral fibre cement boards. They aren't cheap but come pre finished which means they don't need treating. Might have to do something similar at my new place.

Its always fun to build something you then use. According to the treatments I used it should need a recoat of the top layer every 5 years.
