  • Does your cigar consumption vary according to season?

Interested to know if and how seasons impact your smoking. I've noticed myself smoking far less recently than I was a couple of months ago, despite having some exciting sticks resting in the humidor.

Although I have an indoor smoking area, I just find that I'm less inclined to use it in the colder months and when I do, it's usually for a shorter smoke, around the 30 minute mark.

This could be down to my line of work and the workload increasing at this time of year, hence being more fatigued than over the summer.

What are your experiences of this?

I have a heated cabin in the garden so I can smoke what I like whenever I like but during the summer I like to sit out in the mornings with a cup of coffee and a small cigar so that stops when the weather deteriorates.

Totally. I don't have a man-cave so totally reliant on weather for outdoor pursuits.

Have a nice covered area in the garden so if its not too windy or cold its fine. Trying to find a couple of outdoor heaters that have the right WAF at the moment to help.

And glad I have the option of a smoking lounge very near work which I use occasionally.

I find "life" is much more of a factor than the season to be honest as to when i can find time to sit down and enjoy a cigar.

And all this contributes to the ever growing collection - I try really hard to diminish it. But Its a losing battle

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Completely know where you're coming from with that. I also find that I am more carefree in the warmer months, so perhaps this plays into it as well.

Very much dependant on the season for me, although I didn't take full advantage this summer to be honest, looking forward to next summer already though

Seriously considering building a "summer house" which for me at least would be more of a "winter house" I can smoke at work and have done, but the smell lingers and I have to say I don't find stale cigar smoke particularly appetising and don't want it to make the furniture I make smell.

I am very seasonal as I don't smoke in the house. I used to smoke all year round walking the dog, but we sadly said goodbye to her a few months ago.

Rather than add a conservatory to the side of the house, we are now thinking of either an orangery or garden room, which I will then have as a man cave - so year round herfing.

Not being facetious but do you need a dog to go for a walk? I prefer to sit and smoke I must admit.

Of course not! But it was a good habit that I'd enjoyed for many many years. I haven't yet felt like going down those well trodden routes on my own yet!

I am excited to get a comfy chair and a room of my own in the house for a smoke though.

                    That is the dream!

Although at the moment I'm living in a 1 bedroomed flat which is quite prohibitive!

As a dog boy myself, I understand how you feel. Hopefully, you will return to those trails one day...perhaps with a new best friend. Like you, I always take my dogs when I walk me puros.

But as the days get shorter and a wee bit cooler, I tend to spend more time with pipes than puros.

                      But that's just me.

Ditto.... Sitting out in the spring & summer is a pleasure. Weather dependant in a British summer i smoke with greater regularity.

But i enjoy a good short to medium stick while shooting- an autumn/winter pastime which gets my cold weather average up. Otherwise i do tend to turn to a pipe in the colder months....

Why the turn to the pipes?

there is that.... And typically you can pick a length of smoke you want for the time you can cope with the cold/wind etc!
