Having just finished a 2003 El Rey del Mundo Grandes de Espana, I now understand how beneficial age is to a cigar. This 14 year old stick was smooth, flavourful and truly sublime. I can only imagine what delights await me as I get further into this hobby.

I don’t have the experience to comment too much but I had a Partagas recently that was incredibly smooth. The flavours really stood out to me, especially compared to the previous half a dozen which just blended from one to the next. Would’ve like to have known how old it was

I wish I had the patience! I actually bought it from CGars, a bargain at only ?15 too. It lasted a good hour and a quarter, would have probably gone for a full 90 minutes but I had cut it a little too high and it started to unravel towards the end of the final third so I abandoned it.

I've got a few singles that go back ten years and a bit more. Can't bring myself to smoke any as they are a handful or so! This is where the budget and space to over stock over a period of time comes in! I've been on the cigar train just over 10 years now I guess. But I'm so casual I've not really built up a collection.

But I'm starting now. And wherever I can bag a few aged boxes for hopefully not too much $??? I will.

I posted a pic recently. IVe a Cuban David off in there. I do wonder!

The Teachings of Don TJ

A rather simple (and painless) method for building a collection of aged puros is the one don TJ passed on to us many seasons ago.

Here's how it works - once you get to the point of purchasing boxes (10ctn/25ctn), remove one or two sticks from the box straight away, label them with date/factory code and put them to bed in a special place in your humidor. If you do this at the beginning of each box, you won't miss them and after awhile you'll have a fine collection of aged sticks.

That's what I've been doing for several years and now I have several boxes of well-aged puros. The question is....when do I begin to enjoy them?

You got to have patience with cigars buy age smoke while smoking aged cigars your buying in fresher one's and so the cycle begins again.
