Strange marks on the band

What do you make of this?

looks like water or something has dripped on it. maybe take the band off and drip some water on it to see if it does the same. Doesn't look like mold although a similar colour.

I have the same marks on some of my cigar bands. Not certain but I assume it's just a harmless reaction between the tobacco and the colouring in the band.

If that's a Petit Corona, I get that green spotting on some of mine in the 50 Cabs. Doesn't seem to affect the Cigar though.

Nothing to worry about. Is it an old cigar? Because the bands usually deteriorate after some time.

Reassuring to know others are seeing it too, when I initially saw it I started thinking the worse.

It's nothing. Water spots or something.

I opened this thread expecting to see hand written numbers on the back of the band

Strangely I have found it the most with PL and Punch to bands, so there may be something in the colour used in those bands?

Or it could just be a coincidence of course

This is quite common with PL bands, I think its the metallic compounds (perhaps copper) in the paint that degrade over time with moisture.

That would certainly explain the green colouring.

I have one of these stashed at home, I shall take a look at it and see if mines done the same, though only had it 2-3 months so might not be the case

It is the oils and the humidity that are reacting with the gold foil, you see this a lot in vintage cigars.
