  • Cigar recommendation thread?

    Morning All,

I'm not sure if this has been done here previously, so please forgive me if this is a repeat; mods feel free to delete if this is the case.

I was a member of a fragrance forum a while ago and we created a thread where members would recommend different fragrances based on likes/dislikes listed. I wondered if this could work here? Being fairly new to this hobby, I would find this sort of thing both helpful and informative as well as being a bit of fun.

The rule would be that in order to post for a recommendation, you would have to suggest (at least) one cigar for the member above.

    Perhaps something like:
    Favourite cigar to date:
    Least favourite cigar to date:
    Preferred flavour profile (sweet/creamy/woody etc):
    Preferred body:
    Preferred strength:
    Minimum/maximum smoking time:
    Budget (per cigar):

Thoughts? Obviously those with many years experience would be great at suggesting cigars, though it may be difficult to suggest something for them that they haven't already tried.

O.k. get the ball rolling with your own format and suggestions will come. Whats to lose?

I'll give it a go, still to venture into Cuban territory but sampled a fair few from the NC variety.

Favourite cigar to date: Casa Turrent, Maduro Robusto. Beautiful cinnamon flavours.
Least favourite cigar to date: Henri Wintermans, if you've had one you'll know exactly why.
Preferred flavour profile (sweet/creamy/woody etc): Creamy coffee definitely.
Preferred body: Like vitola? Can't say I have a preference for that as yet but not too keen on the smaller ring gauges.
Preferred strength: Medium to full, the maduro wrappers often get my attention.
      Minimum/maximum smoking time: 15minutes to 1 hour.
Budget (per cigar): Usually buy singles and so far the most has been ?16 I think.

Ah forgive me - I didn't read the first post fully!

As always looking for CC recommendations, but always open to some nice NCs too!

Least favourite cigar to date: None really
Preferred flavour profile (sweet/creamy/woody etc): Sweet and creamy
Preferred body: Pyramides (or something with a 50+ ring guage - not too familiar with chunky smokes)
            Preferred strength: Medium
            Minimum/maximum smoking time: 45 mins to 1 hr 30
Budget (per cigar): Up to ?25 for something special
