  • The use of multiple factories

I always thought that each brand had its own factory and only made their own cigars. Just read that this isn't the case and a Partagas SD4 for instance could come from multiple locations. How do they maintain the same flavour from one location to the next?

Do they use specific batches of leaves at each location for each brand so as to maintain the same taste profile regardless of where they're rolled?

Some people actually seek out specific factory codes because of this S_j

      Interesting, I didn't know this.

When people talk about typical flavours for each brand, is that purely from the blend or is it from where the plants are grown and the whole leaf fermentation process?

ITs is a mixture of everything - the blends obviosuly has as major influence, cubans have a unique flavour because of the microclimate there, and the fermentation process affect the favlour too (Cohiba go through an additional one for example)

Personally I am very sceptical of the idea that specific factory rolls specific cigars better than other
