• Help!!!!

Chaps, I appreciate I've been rather quiet recently and a post on my Cuba purchases and trip are on the way!

In preparation for such updates, I had to make room in the wineador and found a condensation pool at the bottom!

    The result is this!

    New fridge on order...

But in the mean time, any advice please?

    Thanks!
    Nick

      Wet Willie!

      Ugh! Tough break, Chico.

Advice? Dry 'em out and see how they smoke.

expect nothing, and if you get smokeable sticks, you've had a major victory!

Hm... I am not sure why they shouldn't smoke fine, once brought back to proper humidity? The tobacco is well moistened when rolled as well and then dries. Unless the water itself was contaminated with weird flavours, I'd say they will be OK?

            Keep Your Puros Dry!

            Good point, Se?or Niela.

And like the moisture applied to the wrapper during the rolling processr, these puros likely will begin to ferment (again) and produce ammonia,* AKA, the "sick period." (SAD!)

So, even after they dry out and reach proper humidity, they may need additional time (many months) to become smokable.

              Help!!!!

This is a very worrisome thread. How does so much condensation accumulate in a wine chiller? Could that level of moisture affect all the cigars in the unit?

I'm assuming it was a compressor chiller not thermoelectric

Most people never turn them on or use broken ones. Its about preserving humidity more than temperature.

                    smokey joe - that's what's shocking - it's electrothermal not a compressor!

Thanks for all the other comments. 20 show no signs of damage and I think the 5 can be saved. % in the unit is 67% across two separate thermometers.

O really that's really shocking...is there something blocking the drainage whole that fridges have?

Btw congratulations and hope the wedding and holiday was fantastic...look forward reading about your trip and new purchases
