Humidors - What's the difference

The Germanus will be good - I've dealt with Tabak Pietsch before and their humidors are good quality - I have a 500ct from them and I love it to bits.

As far as for 500 to 1000 sticks, the cheapest option is probably a repurposed wine fridge - turned into a wineador

I'd agree with much of this. I was lucky to find a brand new Hillwood humidor (piano black and zebra wood) being offered by Hillwood without the humidifier and hygrometer at a fraction of the normal price, so worth keeping an eye out for good humidors where there are no 'innards' - a separately bought digital hygrometer (more accurate) and Bovidor packs (no hassle) is a preferable solution anyway as B-Smuggler suggested above (Xikar hygrometers are good too). This also means that you can look at some nice older humidors on, say, Fleabay, although being sure of the integrity of the seal is difficult with this. I have a 30CT humidor and it's been fine for 'front of house'/ready to use cigars (I'm not a daily smoker either) with others (including boxes) kept in a scubidor (air tight box) and with a wineador (?5 Fleabay inoperative but well-sealing bottle cooler) about to make an appearance. The humidor itself looks good on a side table and, whilst there are some great examples here where people have made a feature of a a big display humidor, I'm not really bothered about that (says he, pretending it's nothing to do with the edicts of SWMBO!).

Now, I dug up this moldy, old quote in the archives - one of don TJ's rules to live by. After blowing off the dust and cleaning it up a bit, it reads: "If the lid slams shut, put it back up (on the vendor's shelf)."
