  • Leather cigar case

I purchased a leather cigar case and have been trying to get rid of the leather smell. I've had it open for 10 days now but can't get rid of the smell. Any suggestions?

Just leave it in the open, but it won't fully fade.

I have a leather cigar case and haven't noticed any flavour transfer so I wouldn't worry too much.

Yeah you wouldn't want to remove it entirely. There's something magical about the combined smell of leather and tobacco!

Indeed. I stumbled across a classic car show at the weekend. Among the memory-jerkers (Capri, MGs etc) were some real classics - a Jenson Interceptor some guy had owned for 38 years and what I think was a 1950s Daimler Princess; anyway, the point is the smell of those two - just stick your head through the window and you got oil and leather and, with the Princess, the unmistakable ancient aroma of expansive Havana cigars (or so I told myself - it was certainly tobacco!).

I bought what I thought was a leather case from a Chinese Ebay seller. It had the most awful chemical smell to it when it arrived and it never got any better so it went in the bin! Now if it was a leather smell, I wouldn't gave minded in the slightest.

I got a Leonel leather case for a little over 30? in Germany, it's cheap and pretty nice.

Use solution of water & vinegar, wouldn't need a lot so a cup of water and a few drops would do it. Apply with soft cloth and rinse with new cloth with warm water. Then dry and apply leather conditioner. Those difficult to reach areas will be a problem though.
Some rice dropped into the pockets might work.

You could try packing it out with the cedar liners from tube cigars until the leather smell fades.
