  • Thin end of the wedge

10yrs ago the Faculty for Public Health successfully pushed for a smoking ban in pubs and clubs now they are targeting rented accommodation of Councils and Housing Associations. No doubt these zealots will target private home owners next under the guise of protecting children.

    Are our days numbered ?

Seriously though a ban on smoking in any car will be next, under the guise that it will then be easier to police.

You already can't smoke in your own van if your self employed & no one else could be exposed. What arse push that through in law?

Do you have a link for this? I'm the H&S bloke for a charity in Bath. We have lots of rented accom with all sorts of clientele in. I'm trying to push for a smoking ban in the rooms but meeting a lot of resistence.
But when I point out, that if we move a new person in who doesn't smoke the room will smell like an ashtray for months afterwards, I just get vacant looks

To be honest, if we already can't use a mobile phone, eat an apple or apply our make up in a car we shouldn't (or already can't) smoke in a car.
