I smoked cigarettes until I was about 41 or 42 and then quit. I started on the cigars when I was 47.
So I quit, but not for cigars.

I smoked fags for years in Germany, went to GW1 as a non smoker, came back 4 months later on 40+ a day. Smoked for the next 5 yrs but only 20-30 a day. I then gave up but then resumed when I went away on tour again. So 6 months of heavy smoking and stoped the day I returned back to normal life. Gave up completely 15 yrs ago. Took up cigars as a rare treat not long after, buy 1 and then smoke it, after a couple of years I gave that up. But the last 4 yrs I've been more into cigars. But I don't have a big humi so stock bounces around the 2-30 count. The wife doesn't understand that I need more, if only to give me more choice when I want a smoke.

Smoked from age 16, cigarettes daily from 18. Stopped at 30 as I'd always planned to, happened to be when the ban started which helped. Started smoking cigars 7 years after that, a pipe 2 years after that.

My brother smokes/d when away deployed (and quite a lot during GW2), but is apparently totally capable of cold turkeying it when back here.

Myself, I was a total non-smoker until a few years ago. Then, Montecristo and a dram, on a whim, and that was that.

I smoked from the Age of 15 stopped when I was 30 (20+ a day),they were less than ?1 a packet, over the years had a couple of relapses when work stress built up, but never for more than 6 months bursts. In 2013 thought I try a cigar instead of returning to cigarettes. The rest is history.

No cigs for me, though I did once try some Dunhill ones that tasted good enough.

Smoked cigarettes on and off for around thirty years, when not smoking cigarettes I smoked machine rolled cigars, mainly Dutch half coronas. Gave up cigarettes completely about seven years ago and started cigars shortly before joining this forum and moved on to a pipe shortly after that.

I smoked an occasional cigarette now and again when I was a youth never actually bought a packet. Always preferred cigars from being 18.

I smoked cigarettes on and off for about 25 years but never that many and was lucky that I could give up whenever I wanted. Haven't smoked a cigarette since the day my Dr told me that although the amount I smoked would make no difference on my risk of getting lung cancer, even one or two a day did significantly increase risk of heart disease.

Used to smoke cigarettes, not so much anymore but occasionally when work etc gets stressful I will pop out for a smoke a couple of times a day.

Never had any problem quitting though, and never got to more than a pack a week really.

yes smoked cigs, but more as an accompaniment to drinking. Quit years ago... had always dabbled with cigars, but one wasn't quit for t'other. but Lord knows they taste better without ciggies killing the palate.
