  • Uneven burn and relights

Had a RyJ No2 this evening and for the first third it smoked perfectly. Things went downhill from there. About half way down I needed to relight and it was already burning unevenly and by the end it was a right mess:

So my question is what causes a cigar to burn like this? I was stored for a while in a ziploc bag with a 70% boveda. I took care in lighting it evenly and I thought was fairly attentive whilst smoking it. I was, as usual, walking with it but did try to keep rotating it as I walked. This is by no means unusual and more often than not I have to relight at least once. Any suggestions?

Any number of reason, but not perfectly rolled is the most likely

      Cuban quality control....

I have a box of Connie A that have fireproof wrappers from the second third on. Go figure....

The delight of smoking a CC, I find a lighter and a bit of purging never goes amiss in a case like this.

Agreed, put it to the flame to straighten it out

In a ziplog bag at 70%, I find at those levels Cubans dont smoke very well at all. I keep mine in the lower 60s and burn issues are pretty rare.

I agree wholeheartedly - i had a bunch of issues with my Cubans when storing them with a 69 Boveda in my coolidor; relights, uneven burns, tunnelling. I then swicthed to the 65 Bovedas and not looked back since
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

I done the exact same...I've also tried 62 too but that's a bit to dry for me.

I agree - I find cigar smoke (and burn) much better at 65
